Reaction essay from the issue:
The Commission on Human Rights (CHR) was tasked to look into the National Bureau of Investigation’s (NBI) handling of Jason Ivler, the prime suspect in the killing of Renato Victor Ebarle Jr, the only son of the Presidential Chief of Staff Undersecretary Renato Ebarle Sr. According to Ivler’s mom, Marlene Aguilar (sister of renowned folk singer Freddie Aguilar), Jason was treated “like a pig” during his arrest. I can say that Jason’s mother was instrumental in harboring a known suspect. And I’m not defending any of the actions that she did on her son’s behalf because it was wrong for her to do so. On the other hand, when Jason Aguilar Ivler was treated like a pig maybe because he is heavy but they can call for medic assistant at that time because Jason has a wound already. He’s been shot. Then after that he is thrown maybe because those guy’s who carry him is mad at him because Jason change shoot with them before they can arrest Jason itself. There’s an explanation but the explanation is not good. That is not right, we have human rights. I hope everyone knows what are their human rights to be respect upon by those who have the power and position in the country. Thus, to have a fair justice, a person who committed sin shall be punished no matter what he is, provided that the human rights is not violated so that everyone can see the transparency of what happened for that instant situation.
